Now for some reason I'm sitting here and everything is working perfect, a little slow(19.00 ms pings, 14-15.00ms when I had the Ethernet cable connected to it(re0 was down, just the wire was connected)) I don't think I even have "option Firmware" loaded in the kernel(which is needed by iwn), yet currently everything is working smoothly(minus a "dhclient: buffer unavailable" every so ofter). Well now, everything is working when it wants to. The system does not even see it anymore, all the usual troubleshooting tips dont work and neither does removing and reinstalling. Well I finally got it work after copy/pasting a if_iwn.c(I think) and then I also downloaded a Linux driver, so I'm not sure which was the fix, if it didn't need both even(idk.) So after a couple hours of having working wireless, my laptop crashes and I have to reinstall all over again. I have the attached Wi-Fi Adapter in my HP Pavilion DM4 and it has stopped working. The change of the meaning of the brand name occurred on January 7, 2010.
Previously the same brand name was used by the company as a platform-marketing initiative. Weirdest thing, I very first installed FreeBSD and couldn't get the wireless to work, I even went to the FreeBSD forums to no avail. Centrino is a brand name of Intel Corporation which represents its Wi-Fi and WiMAX wireless computer networking adapters. I am trying to get the WIC working on my laptop.
